Located in the well-established and peaceful El Tossalet residential area of Jávea, this detached single-family home with a swimming pool sits on a 1,800 m² rectangular plot, gently terraced by the old orange grove embankments that define the traditional topography of the region.
From the outset, the client set out two key requirements: firstly, to design a summer residence with a functional layout and low-maintenance finishes, intended for seasonal use during the summer months; and secondly, to conceive an L-shaped building that would offer privacy to the living areas and organise the layout around the garden and pool.
With a built area of 280 m², the home is laid out entirely on one level, following an architectural language of clean lines and balanced proportions. The project achieves a harmony between modernity and tradition through a careful selection of materials: traditional stone masonry anchors the house to the land, while timber and corten steel introduce warmth and sophistication, creating a dialogue with the immediate surroundings.
The interior layout follows a functional, open-plan concept that prioritises connection with the outdoors. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow natural light to flood the main living spaces and enhance the visual relationship with the pool and garden areas. Strategically positioned openings and low-maintenance materials ensure the home is comfortable, efficient, and sustainable throughout the summer season.
This residence is a contemporary interpretation of the Mediterranean style, adapted to both the climate and the lifestyle of its inhabitants. It is an architecture that responds to its setting with restraint and elegance, offering a serene, functional retreat that blends perfectly into the Jávea landscape.
The main entrance, through an impressive natural wood door, opens onto a grand, naturally lit staircase, which acts as the central axis of the house. This key space separates the day and night areas, maximising functionality. The day area features a spacious double-height living-dining room with an integrated kitchen, sloped ceilings, and large windows that open directly onto outdoor spaces, including the pool, a covered porch, and a chill-out zone topped with a Mediterranean-style pergola made from wood and metal.
The house includes three double bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom and built-in wardrobes, all with direct access to carefully designed Mediterranean-style gardens. On the upper floor, a multifunctional lounge with its own bathroom opens onto a large terrace complete with pergola and barbecue area, offering an ideal space to enjoy the stunning views over Cabo de Sant Antoni.
The outdoor areas complete the project with a swimming pool fully integrated into the landscape, Mediterranean gardens with natural stone detailing, and various corners designed to maximise enjoyment of the scenery and the climate. This Jávea home is a tribute to the Mediterranean way of life, where tradition, contemporary design, and connection to the natural environment come together to create a unique and characterful home.
